The only banner your visitors
won't resent.
Most consent banners look bolted on — wrong font, wrong colours, wrong words, wrong corner of the screen. CookieLet's Cookie Editor is a live-preview visual builder: pick a legislation preset, choose a layout and position, tune every colour, rewrite every label in every language, then Preview and Publish. No CSS overrides, no developer ticket, no compromise.
We value your privacy
EN ▾We use cookies to enhance your browsing experience, serve personalised ads or content, and analyse our traffic. By clicking “Accept All”, you consent to our use of cookies.
Your banner is the first thing every visitor sees. Treat it that way.
It appears before your headline, before your product, before your pricing. A banner that looks foreign, blocks the page, or offers no honest way to decline costs you trust, consent rates, and — increasingly — regulatory goodwill.
Off-brand by default
Generic banners ship in someone else's blue with someone else's border radius. Visitors notice the seam, and a banner that looks like a third-party pop-up gets dismissed like one.
Built for developers, not marketers
Changing a single word shouldn't mean editing a config file and waiting for a deploy. When banner changes are expensive, they stop happening — and your copy drifts out of date with your policy.
Dark patterns are enforcement targets
Regulators across the EU have gone after banners where "Accept" is a bright button and "Reject" is a grey link buried two clicks deep. Symmetry isn't just fair — it's the compliant default.
See every change the instant you make it
A live device preview sits beside your controls. Move a slider, switch a layout, retype a heading — the banner updates in real time on desktop, tablet and mobile. Nothing is guesswork, and nothing goes live until you say so.
- ✓Save, Preview and Publish are separate. Draft freely, open a full live preview on your real site, publish only when it's right.
- ✓Four collapsible groups. General, Layout, Design and Content — so a 40-field editor never feels like one.
- ✓Responsive previews built in. Confirm your banner doesn't swallow a small screen before a visitor does it for you.
- ✓Zero code. Marketing, legal or support can make a change without touching the site.
Presets set the defaults — consent model, button set, whether categories start switched on. Customise anything afterwards.
Three layouts. Nine positions. One that fits your page.
A banner that covers your hero on mobile is a bounce. Pick the shape and placement that respects your design, then set how it arrives.
Box
Compact floating card pinned to a corner or edge. The least intrusive option — the page stays readable behind it.
Banner
Full-width bar across the top, centre or bottom. High visibility without a modal overlay — the workhorse for content sites.
Popup
A larger card you can place anywhere on screen. Gives category descriptions and policy links room to breathe.
Position, effect and animation
A nine-cell grid puts the banner exactly where you want it — bottom-left for a quiet box, top-centre for an unmissable bar, dead centre for a decision you want made now.
- ✓Style effect — none for a clean overlay, or a dimming backdrop when you want focus on the choice.
- ✓Animation — fade in, slide up, or appear instantly. Motion that matches your site, not a jarring pop.
- ✓Mobile-aware — layouts reflow so buttons stay tappable and text stays legible on small screens.
Same banner. Your colours.
Start from a ready-made theme or go Custom and control every surface individually — background, title, body, links, highlight — then style each button's background, text and border on its own.

Down to the border of the reject button
Each button gets its own fill, text and border colour — which is exactly what you need to give Accept All and Reject All genuinely equal visual weight.
- ✓Per-button control for Accept All, Reject All, Customize and Save Preferences.
- ✓Reset all at any level — experiment freely and roll back to the theme default in one click.
- ✓Paste your brand hex once and the banner stops looking like a third-party widget.
- ✓Verify contrast in the preview before you publish, not after a visitor complains.
The settings that decide who sees what
Geo-targeting plus legislation presets let one site behave correctly in every market you serve.
Geo-targeted display
Show the banner worldwide, restrict it to EU countries and the UK, or hand-pick a country list — without maintaining two versions of your site.
Consent expiration
Set how many days a decision stays valid before you ask again — 365 by default. Guidance in several jurisdictions expects consent to be refreshed rather than treated as permanent.
Reload on consent action
Optionally refresh the page the moment a visitor decides, so newly-permitted scripts initialise cleanly and revoked ones stop immediately.
Google Consent Mode
Signal consent states to Analytics and Ads instead of blocking them outright — preserving modelled conversions while respecting the visitor's choice.
IAB TCF v2.3
For publishers running programmatic advertising, pass a standards-compliant consent string down the supply chain so demand partners get signals they can act on.
Blocking that actually blocks
The banner is the interface; enforcement sits underneath. Non-essential scripts and embeds are held back until consent, with your custom message shown in their place.
From default to on-brand in one sitting
Pick your preset
GDPR, CCPA or Custom. The consent model, button set and category behaviour configure themselves.
Shape and place it
Box, Banner or Popup; one of nine positions; a style effect and entrance animation that suit your site.
Paint and write it
Drop in your brand colours, style each button, rewrite every label — in each language you serve.
Preview, then publish
Check desktop, tablet and mobile, open a live preview on your real site, and hit Publish.
"Consent should be given by a clear affirmative act… Silence, pre-ticked boxes or inactivity should not therefore constitute consent."
A builder, not a settings page
Plenty of consent tools give you a position dropdown and a single accent colour and call it customisation. The Cookie Editor treats your banner as a designed surface — because it is one, and because it's the surface with the highest impression count on your entire site.
It doesn't stop at appearance either. Every choice a visitor makes flows into your Consent Log, the Cookie Manager keeps the declaration table accurate, and Policy Generators keep the linked documents in step. One system, one source of truth.

FAQ
Questions we get asked
Do I need a developer to change my banner?
No. After the one-time script install, everything — layout, position, colours, copy, languages, behaviour — is edited in the dashboard and pushed live with Publish. The script on your site never changes.
What's the difference between Save, Preview and Publish?
Save stores your work as a draft without affecting your live site. Preview opens your actual site with the draft banner applied, so you can test it in context. Publish makes it live for real visitors. Keeping them separate means you can iterate during business hours without shipping half-finished changes.
Can I show a different banner in different countries?
Yes. Geo-targeting lets you show the banner worldwide, only to EU countries and the UK, or to a country list you choose. Combined with legislation presets, you can run a strict opt-in experience where it's required and a lighter notice elsewhere.
Will customising the design break compliance?
Design freedom cuts both ways, so the editor makes the compliant choice the easy one: presets start with non-essential categories switched off, and Reject All is a first-class button you can style with the same prominence as Accept All. Making rejection visually harder than acceptance is exactly the pattern regulators have been penalising — we give you the controls to avoid it, and recommend you use them.
How do translations work?
Set a default language, then add others on the Languages page. The editor always shows which language's content you're editing, and you can enable a selector on the banner so visitors switch themselves. Every string — including cookie table headers and the blocked-content message — is translatable.
What is the "blocked content" alt text for?
When a visitor hasn't consented to the category a third-party embed belongs to — a YouTube video, an embedded map, a social feed — CookieLet blocks it from loading. Rather than leaving an unexplained gap, it shows your message in that space, so the visitor understands why it's missing and what to do about it.
Why would I turn on "reload page on consent action"?
Some third-party scripts only initialise on page load. Reloading immediately after a consent decision guarantees newly-allowed tags start cleanly and newly-revoked ones stop at once. If your site is a single-page app that handles consent events dynamically, you can leave it off.
Does the banner slow my site down?
The script is lightweight and renders the banner without blocking your page. Choosing a Box or Banner layout over a full-screen Popup, and keeping the message concise, also keeps the first impression fast and unobtrusive.
Can I remove the "Powered by CookieLet" mark?
The attribution appears on free accounts. Paid plans include the option to remove it, along with country-level geo-targeting, IAB TCF support and other advanced controls.
